I had to. I'm trying not to post a thousand threads with all of my favorite artists (space it out a little bit Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register to forum by clicking here to see images.), but I gotta liven this place up a bit anyway. And... I love EA's music haha. So... I really hope it's alright that I post an EA thread here...

Albums:
Enchant (2003, re-released 2007)
Your Sugar Sits Untouched (2005, CD and poetry book)
Opheliac (2006, re-released 2009)
Laced/Unlaced (2007)
A Bit O' This & That (2007)

EPs and singles:
Opheliac EP (2006, preview EP)
Liar/Dead Is the New Alive (2007)
4 o'Clock (2008)
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun & Bohemian Rhapsody Double Feature EP (2008)

Bibliography:
Your Sugar Sits Untouched (2005)
The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls (2009)

Emilie Autumn is an American violinist, singer/song-writer, author, poet, harpsicordist, etc. Her story is kind of difficult to explain. And that's part of why I like her and her work. It's very mysterious and psychological. Yes, psychological. She is known for her album and book about the Victorian Era and about her stay in an insane asylum. Her first album is more jazzy (I love the song Juliet) and was before her stay in the asylum, but her other albums are more industrial and, of course, after her stay.

I just bought her book The Asylum For Wayward Victorian Girls, which is on it's 2nd printing because the 1st printing sold out. It's not shipping until October, but I'm super excited to get it. It's pretty expensive (you can only order it online for like 50 bucks), but totally worth it if you're a huge fan (like me Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register to forum by clicking here to see images.). Plus it's supposed to be signed, it's the size of a text book, and is nearly 5 pounds. I just saw one not to long ago (unsigned) go for over $500.

EA is also known for her Shakespeare references. Such as in the song Opheliac (on the album Opheliac), she sings the phrase from Hamlet "Doubt thou the stars are fire, doubt thou the sun doth move, doubt truth to be a liar, but never doubt I love...". She also has many references to Ophelia's drowning in her songs.

So since I posted an A Fine Frenzy thread on her forum, I thought it would only be fair to post an EA thread here. Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register to forum by clicking here to see images.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emilie_Autumn

P.S.- don't let her pictures or the style of the songs scare you. Just listen to the lyrics. It took me a while to get into her, so I definitely understand if it's too "different" if any of you guys check it out. It's very rare to find a fan of AFF and EA, though there are a few out there... I actually just got a friend into EA, and then I got her into AFF and now she's obsessed with both.

Sorry for the long post haha. I shall stop now. Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register to forum by clicking here to see images.

Okay, well, I'm a huge Nightwish fan, so I hope that it's okay for me to create this thread. *crosses fingers* I'm just curious to see if any AFF fans here are also Nightwish fans. Or, if not, maybe I can get some new fans out of this haha. I'll try not to make this too long. Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register to forum by clicking here to see images.

Nightwish is a symphonic metal band from Kitee, Finland, which formed in 1996. Studio Albums: Angels Fall First, Oceanborn, Wishmaster, Over the Hills and Far Away EP, Century Child, Once, and Dark Passion Play. I have collected so many studio albums, compilation albums, DVDs, singles, etc. from them, it drives my family insane.

Their former singer, Tarja Turunen is a classically trained soprano singer. She sang from Angels Fall First to Once. Their new singer, Anette Olzon, is actually Swedish, and she sang in Dark Passion Play. They have also had two male vocalists. One is the keyboardist, Tuomas Holopainen, (but to be honest, I really don't like his voice- he doesn't either, so he refused to sing after their first album), and Marco, the bassist (I like him better. He sang in their last three albums.) Their music styles range from folk all the way to metal.

Songs I'd recommend:
Etiäinen (demo song)- really folkish. Just guitar and vocals. Sung by Tarja.
Sleeping Sun- two versions of this song (1999 and 2005). Both versions are really different, but I'd recommend both. Pretty ballad. Sung by Tarja.
Ghost Love Score- Oh my gosh, I LOVE this song. It's longer, but it is absolutely beautiful. Sung by Tarja.
The Islander- Folkish, once again. Sung by Marco.
Eva- very pretty song, sung by Anette.
Kuolema Tekee Taiteilijan- Finnish song, but very beautiful. Sung by Tarja.
Walking In The Air- Cover song. Sung by Tarja. Sooo beautiful.

Now keep in mind, I recommended these songs to AFF fans. So I didn't recommend any full-blown hard metal songs. Those, above, are all folkish and/or ballads. So don't worry haha.

Sorry if that was way too long. You guys don't have to comment on this thread or anything, I just wanted to spread the Nightwish love. Guests cannot see images in the messages.
First off I am so sorry about the lack of talk on here! I feel terrible! I have literally been bogged down with uni work. I had some awful modules! But I've been getting 2:1 grades + which is tip top! (For those of you who don't know 2:1 is like..the second best you can get - not to gloat)

I am making a pre-21st resolution which is to become a more active and dedicated Fine Forum member - but I'll need your help! I need comments to work with!
This is mainly because I realised something very recently. I went through a pretty awful summer last year and I realised that what got me through was music and people. Like even you guys. Just a comment every few weeks to take my mind off things. The beautiful songs from 'One Cell In The Sea', or other music. Things like that and it's really only on places like here that you can really realise how you cope with things..sometimes.

So, I have to ask - how are you all?

Taiwanese-American singer-songwriter-pianist Vienna Teng is one of those superbly gifted artists who keep you wondering why they are not much better known and more successful (not that different after all from Alison...). I had never before heard of her until the nice couple next to whom I was seated at Ali's legendary Heinsheim concert on April 30 suggested me to check her out. (If you guys should read this, THANK YOU!!) Vienna's work has many parallels to Ali's, but also some differences, both of which I urge you to find out yourself. To get a first taste, start with her debut album, "Waking Hour" (she has released four studio albums and one live album so far).
Advisory: Exposure to Vienna Teng's music, even in small dosage, may result in your worst case of addiction to music ever since you got to know AFF. I know what I'm talking about, I've been through it...

Hello friendzies, for those who are looking for a little Christmas present for someone or for yourself, i want you recommend to have a listen to luthea's album "sunbeam surrounded by winter". You can listen to some tracks on her myspace player (http://www.myspace.com/lutheasalom) or on Youtube. The best videos i've got in a playlist on my channel http://www.youtube.com/user/harry47111

She was one of my 2 best new music finds in 2009 and she really earns support even by an A Fine Frenzy fan Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register to forum by clicking here to see images. She even communicates with all fans via myspace comments and youtube. The songs "die to live", "dragonfly", "like a river" and "accidents" are "going quick into the ear", but all others are also excellent and musically pretty good arranged! Would be great if you check her music, her voice, and even the lyrics are very nice and translated by her german fan Kurt, who is also a fan of A Fine Frenzy. The translation of the lyrics you'll find on the german homepage, from where you can also order the album for Euro 13,49 (incl. shipping) (http://www.lutheasalom.de/) A booklet with english lyrics comes with the album Guests cannot see images in the messages.
Wish you all lovely and happy Christmas holidays :-)

Maria... who? I bet you never heard about her...
Do you know that feeling - listening to a song for the first time on the radio, getting completely hooked immediately, having to find out the name of the the performer, the title of the song as soon as possible to search the song itself on e.g. Youtube?
For my ears, there are no more than maybe 1 or 2 of such standout songs per year. (Not surprisingly, "Almost Lover" was one of them.)
Some time ago I heard on WDR2 radio station a song that immediately struck me, mostly by way of its gentle country feeling, the riding rhythm, and the voice of the singer. It turned out that the song was "Ocean Needs Water" by Norwegian singer-songwriter Maria Solheim, and I never heard it on the radio again.
Fortunately, it can be found on Maria Solheim's myspace site, http://www.myspace.com/mariasolheim. I think she is worth checking out, although I wasn't overly impressed by her other songs. But maybe you are.

Well ... to be honest in the last three days I haven't been listening to A Fine Frenzy but to Leona Lewis... and there are some songs that really give me goosebumps. So I figured I should recommend her to you.

I guess everyone knows her first hitsingle "Bleeding Love" which went #1 in almost every country! I liked the song back then (although I never could figure out if the chorus is cool or creepy. I know it's all a methapor, but think about it: "You cut me open and I keep bleeding, I keep, keep bleeding love" - literally it says-someone takes a knife or whatever and cuts you into pieces and you are bleeding on the ground, floor ... blood everywhere that forms the word love? Yeah, mhm... anyway) and then "Run" was released which blew me away. I mean my heart was broken at that time and I listened to that song over and over again, crying... (just in case you forgot about this song, here's a live version on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTNoOkBMGM4 )

I was lucky that I bought the "SPIRIT" album as a Deluxe Edition because the song was on it then and it had 4 more songs plus some nice videoclips. And now "Happy" the single release from her new, the second album "ECHO" is out. I love the vid and the song!!! And since I've heard and seen some Unplugged/Acoustic versions on radio and youtube ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62AGS3QYNj4 ) of this particular song ... I just got the "ECHO" album three days ago and it's on and on... I have to admit it sounds different than the first one, which had very romantic and slow songs on it ... but to be honest: it's Leona Lewis! Her voice is amazing, the whole vocal arrangements on this LP are absolutely fantastic and it's a great mix of Love and Rock songs (some are produced by Jay-Z and even J.Timberlake made a song with her!)

If you haven't heard of her (is that even possible? SHAME ON YOU!!!), go and check her out (*ha ha* that sounds pervi). Both LPs (again "SPIRIT" and "ECHO") are super-duper!!!
